ZATCA basics
What is a ZATCA QR code?
A ZATCA QR code is a machine-readable code shown on Saudi VAT invoices. For simple invoices, it usually represents key invoice details such as seller name, VAT number, timestamp, invoice total, and VAT amount.
What data is inside the QR code?
The common Phase 1 QR format uses TLV encoding, which means each field is stored with a tag, length, and value. The values are then encoded so a scanner can read them consistently.
The basic fields are seller name, seller VAT registration number, invoice timestamp, invoice total including VAT, and VAT amount.
How Muhawil helps
Muhawil creates a free bilingual Arabic and English invoice PDF with a Saudi VAT QR utility for those basic fields. It is useful when you need a quick customer-facing document without signing up for a SaaS product.
It is not a full ZATCA Phase 2 e-invoicing platform and does not connect to ZATCA systems.
